Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 27, 1987.

The arms show a part of a fishing net placed over the shield. The arms simply indicate the importance of fishing for the community. Several different arms were designed, all with fisheries as the main theme, but the council finally chose for the design above, which is rather unique among Civic Heraldry.
