PALAIRAC

Département : Aude

Palairac.jpg

Origin/meaning

The arms are based on the arms of Charles d'Hozier, herault of France in 1696. The silver and black colours symbolise the iron and silver mining in the area.

The motto 'Ferrum fortiam fecit' was adopted on June 30, 1997 and means 'I got my strength from iron'. It again symbolises the richess obtained from the mining by the Lords of Palairac, who built their castle in the village.
