Origin/meaning

The pick and shovel represent the mining that provided wealth and gave rise to the new population of Pueblonuevo del Terrible. The rock refers to the old village of Peñarroya, built around this typical red rock and from which the name of Penna Roya (red pinnacle) is derived.

The fleurs-de-lys remember the importance of French influence on the development of the mining and demographic of the area from the last century.
