Escudo de azul, águia estendida de ouro, bicada armada de negro, carregada no peito de uma cruz de Cristo e acompanhada de duas espadas de prata. Coroa mural de prata de cinco torres. Listel branco com os dizeres : " CIDADE DE PENAFIEL ", de negro.*

The arms were officially granted on June 18, 1984.
