  • (fr) D'azur chaussé cousu de sinople au château d'or ouvert du champ, ajouré et maçonné de sable, la tour centrale crénelée de trois pièces, chargée d'un écusson d'or à trois tourteaux de gueules, sa porte surmontée des armes impériales de Romanie, «de gueules à la croix d'or cantonnée de quatre besants du même, chacun rempli de gueules et chargé d'une croix d'or, et accompagné de quatre croisettes du même», enserrées dans un arc ogival, ses deux tours latérales couvertes, le tout brochant et accompagné de trois fleurs de lis d'or, deux en chef et une en pointe, chargeant l'azur; au chef cousu de sinople chargé de trois pommes au naturel.

Origin/meaning

The arms were adopted on November 16, 2000.

The arms show the local castle, which was destroyed in the 14th century. On the tower the arms of the Courtenay family are shown, who owned the castle at the time. In the gate there is the arms of the Byzantine Empire as, thourgh marriage, members of the family became Emperors of the Byzantine Empire.

The three fleur-de-lys refer to the connections of the family with the French Royal House.

The chief shows apples, referring to the apple orchards in the municipality.
