Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on October 16, 1961.

The division of the shield symbolises the forests and the lakes in the municipality. It also symbolises that the village is in the Northernmost part of the historical province of Häme, on the borders with Ostrobothnia and Savo provinces.

The arrow points are a symbol for the former importance of hunting in the area.
