The frog probably indicates the position of the town in the moors in the 13<sup>th</sup> century. The arms are supposed to have been granted in the middle of the 15<sup>th</sup> century, but the document got lost in the 18<sup>th</sup> century. The oldest known seal dates from 1514 and already shows the frog as the sole symbol. All later seals and arms show the frog.
