Region : Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Origin/meaning :
Pordenone has symbolically taken place of the ancient roman town of Concordia (Sagittaria), in the past the main town of the "Destra Tagliamento" (the land between the rivers Tagliamento and Livenza, in Friuli).
For this reason, the new Province of Pordenone (1968) wanted to represent in its coat of arms the figure of the goddess Concordia holding the horn of plenty, with reference both to the mother town of Concordia, and to the hope that harmony (concordia, peace) and plenty will be features of the Province.
