Escudo de prata, com pano de muralha ameiado e flanqueado por duas torres, também ameiadas, tudo negro. As torres são iluminadas de ouro. O pano da muralha tem uma porta de ouro pregada e ferrolho negro. Em chefe, as quinas de Portugal. Coroa mural de cinco torres de prata. Listel branco com os dizeres : " CIDADE DE PORTALEGRE ".
