RÖTHENBACH AN DER PEGNITZ

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Nürnberger Land
Additions : 1972 Haimendorf

Wappen von Röthenbach an der Pegnitz

Official blazon

In von Rot und Silber gespaltenem Schild ein durchgehender blauer Schrägbach, der mit einem achtschaufeligen goldenen Mühlrad belegt ist.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 4, 1953 at the same time that the town became a city.

There are no historical arms or seals known. The wavy bend symbolises the Röthenbach, the river that runs through the city. The wheel symbolises the local mill, which has been first mentioned in 1311, and which was the first industry in town. The background colours are taken from the imperial banner. The forests around the city were the possession of the kings and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire.
