Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on

The peacock and bends are taken from the Wied coat of arms indicate that Rüscheid once belonged to the County of Wied. The windmill refers to the tower windmill of the Rüscheid miller Friedrich Haag, which he had built in 1880-82 at the southern end of the village, to use the wind that often blows on the ridge to drive the mill, but with little success because of the unfavorable location. The mill was demolished in 1930. The windmill also symbolizes the cultivation of grain in the wide fields.

The abbot's staff and the letters "A" and "R" (for Rommersdorf Abbey) associated with it in the lower coat of arms field (point) stand for the former property of the Rommersdorf monastery in the Rüscheid district, which provided its land holdings with this symbol on its boundary stones.
