RAF STATION BRAWDY, ROYAL AIR FORCE

History: Control of the Station passed from the Royal Navy to the Royal Air Force in 1971. The Station was closed in September 1995.

Official blazon

A sea-dragon per bend azure and gules supporting with the sinister claw the badge of the Prince of Wales as Heir Apparent to the Throne and grasping in its dexter claw a sword erect.
Motto: Amddiffy nfa y gorllewin = Stronghold of the west.

Origin/meaning

The Sea-Dragon is taken from the Arms of the Preseli district Council and indicates the location of the Station. The blue tail alludes to the previous use of the Station by the Royal Navy. The Sword indicates parentage of the Strike Command. The Prince of Wales's Badge signifies that He was Honorary Commodore of the Station. The badge was granted in december 1984.
