RNZAF SHELLY BAY

Official blazon

On a field argent, water barry wavy Argent and Azure; rising from the upper edge a grassy mound Vert and on that a Keep Gules Flying a RNZAF Ensing proper; the Keep having a NZ Flying Fish proper in front.
Motto: Hapaingia te kalipapa = Support for our superior headquarters.

Origin/meaning

The Tower which is renderad as a Keep and shown upon a grassy mound represents a headquarters. The inclusion of the RNZAF ensign shows that it is a superior headquarters, in this case, Air Staff. The wavy lines represent the Navy origins of the Base, the Flying Fish symbolises the transition of the Base from the Navy to the Air Force. The badge was approved in November 1995.
