Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted in 2001.

The lower half shows the local Slavic fortress, which dates from the 9th or 10th century and from which the village probably developed. It is now reconstructed. The fish is taken from the late 19th century seal and probably indicated the position in the Spreewald area and the importance of fisheries in the nearby lakes.
