The frog, a tree frog, is a canting element (a tree frog is rainette in French).

The bell represents the three bells of the church dedicated to Saint Marcel built in 1790 and that of the Saint-Jean chapel.

The alérion is taken from the arms of Lorraine the region in which Rainville is situated.

Part of the village historically belonged to the Abbey Etanche de Rollainville, which is illustrated by the crosier.

The ears of wheat underline the agricultural character of the village, the twigs are those of beeches and other trees from the surrounding forests.
