RAMSAU AM DACHSTEIN

State : Steiermark
District : Liezen

Wappen von Ramsau am Dachstein

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 19, 1977.

The arms use the tinctures of the Styrian arms and are devised on the base of the Styrian anthem, which begins "Hoch vom Dachstein an, wo der Aar noch haust" (From the Dachstein mountains settled by eagles). The three mountains in base represent the Dachstein massif (Dachstein, Torstein and Mitterspitz) towering above Ramsau.

The Rose is taken from the arms of Martin Luther. Ramsau is a predominantly Lutheran municipality, a tradition reaching back to the 16th century.
