RAPPELSDORF

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Hildburghausen
Incorporated into : 1996 Schleusingen

Wappen von Rappelsdorf/Arms (crest) of Rappelsdorf
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on June 30, 1992.

The rooster is the symbol of the Counts of Henneberg, who in medieval times ruled the area. The water mill wheel is a symbol for the importance of the local water mill, which is now a protected monument. The mermaid is derived from a local legend. There are several stories about a nymph in a Lake of Death (Totenlache) in the local legends. Hence the mermaid was chosen as a symbol for the village.
