REITZENGESCHWENDA

State : Thüringen
District (Kreis) : Saalfeld-Rudolstadt
Incorporated into : Drognitz

Wappen von Reitzengeschwenda

Official blazon

In Silber eine grüne Lilie; im Schildhaupt ein silbernes, schwebendes Kreuz, beseitet von je einem schwebenden silbernen Pfahl.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on January 15, 1996.

The green fleur-de-lis is taken from the old seal of the village, which showed the local patron saint, Archangel Gabriel. The fleur-de-lis is his symbol. The chief symbolises the village of Neidenberga in the municipality. The colours are derived from the arms of the Lords of Obernitz, who had their estate in the village, whereas the cross and stones symbolise a large stone cross found in the village.
