RHODEN
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Waldeck-Frankenberg (until 1972 Waldeck)
Incorporated into : 1970 Diemelstadt
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
Rhoden developed around a castle of the Counts of Waldeck in the middle of the 13th century. In 1294 the village received city rights and was fortified. The oldest seal dates from the same time and shows already the same composition as the arms. The seal showed a city wall with a church and the star of the Counts of Waldeck. In the 19th century the composition was placed in a shield.
