Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1960.
The castle symbolises the Riberhus castle, the lion's heads are taken from the Danish Royal arms, as the castle was owned and often used by the Kings of Denmark. The colours and basic idea are identical to the arms of Ribe city.
