RINDERN

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Kleve
Incorporated into : 1969 Kleve

Wappen von Rindern

Official blazon

  • (de) Gespalten in Rot und Gold, vorn ein goldener Schlüssel, dessen Bart nach links zeigt und hinten ein rotes Krücken- oder vierfaches Taukreuz in wechselnden Farben.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 25, 1967.

The arms were originally granted to the Amt Rindern, and later adopted by the municipality.

The key is taken from the local seal dating from the 15th century. The seal showed the local patron saint St. Peter, with the key as his symbol. The cross is taken from the seal of the nearby village Düffelward. The seal showed St. Mauritius holding a shield with the cross. The meaning of the cross is not known.
The red and gold colours are those of the former Duchy of Kleve.
