Roth.kreis.jpg

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on January 14, 1975.

The crosier and the quartered shield refer to the two former rulers in the district, the Bishops of Eichstätt and the Markgraves of Brandenburg-Ansbach, from the Hohenzollern dynasty. The rose in the base of the shield symbolises the Free city of Roth, where people could apply for Imperial asylum during several centuries.

Literature : Linder and Olzog, 1996
