In vieren gedeeld met rood en zilver; het 1e perk met het zilveren beeld van een ruyter te peerd, gewapend van het hoofd tot de voeten, houdende in de regterhand eenen degen bloot en regt op, ook van zilver; het peerd met een blauw en gulden dekkleed.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on January 25, 1842.

The first time the arms were mentioned dates from 1561, when Arnold van den Baerse acquired the estate of Ruddervoorde and at the time he was granted the use of the arms of Ruddervoorde. The arms were identical to the present arms. The origin of the quartering is not known. The knight in the first quarter is a canting symbol (from Ridder, knight).
