Wappen von Sankt Mang/Arms (crest) of Sankt Mang
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1947 (the first in Bayern after the second World War).

The arms show the local patron saint St. Magnus, which thus is a canting symbol. He saved the area from dragons and other beasts, hence the dragon in the base of the arms. The crosier symbolises the fact that he founded the local Benedictan abbey in Füssen. The blue and golden shield shows the colours of old Burgundy and stand for Duke Pippin I.
