Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 16, 1979.

The castle evokes the first building of the region, where passers by had protection against fierce Indians and wild animals and the sun, as a symbol of eternity alludes to the pledge of the settlers to keep the land for them and their descendants forever.

The supporters show that sugar cane and oranges are important agricultural products of the region.

The shield is surmounted by a mural crown appropriate to a city and a scroll below the shield bears the name of the city.
