Origin/meaning

The arms were officially adopted in December 2021.

The wagon in chief refers to the origin of the name of the town: in 1296 Charragey from the old French chariaige , chariot. The waves represent the Doubs river.

The yellow gentian (or large gentian) is very common in the town and the fir tree refers to the local forests.
