Origin/meaning

Shoulder Sleeve Insignia: Blue, white and red are the National colors. The four stars commemorate Georgia, the fourth state in the Union. They also represent four aspects of development in the Savannah High Schools: academic, cultural, physical, and military science. The embattled partition alludes to the military. The torch denotes wisdom and vigilance. The book refers to knowledge.

Shoulder Loop Insignia: Red, white (silver) and blue are indicative of the National colors. The four stars commemorate the State of Georgia, the fourth state in the Union. They also represent four aspects of development in the Savannah High Schools: academic, cultural, and physical and in military science. The sword alludes to leadership. The wavy bar refers to water and is representative of Savannah, a city with one of the largest seaports in the United States. The paddle wheel, alluding to the “Savannah”, the first steamship to cross the Atlantic, and the “Savannah” the first nuclear-powered United States Merchant Ship, refers to the city of Savannah, the location of the schools.
