State : Steiermark
District : Hartberg-Fürstenfeld (until 2015 Hartberg)

Schaffern.jpg

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on December 9, 1991.

The arms are derived from the charges of the arms of the Perner von Bärnegg family, local landowners in the Middle Ages. The Perner arms were canting (a bear). The village is situated near the Lower Austrian and Burgenland state borders, which is expressed by the partitions and the tinctures of the arms.
