Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on ??-??-1970.

The arms first appear on the local seal from 1843. In the late 18th century the local council did not have its own seal or arms. The colours were adopted in 1938, but the arms were not officially granted until 1970.

The garb in the upper half symbolises the importance of agriculture. The hammer is a canting element for a smith or smithy; the name was Schmidtheim in the 18th century.

Literature: Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
