Origin/meaning

I have no information on the origin or meaning of these arms. Any information is welcome.

In 1951 an message appeared in the local newspaper for a contest for new arms. I have, however, no further information whether proposals have been submitted and if some arms were adopted.

Colonial arms

The arms were officially granted on May 4, 1932.

Official blazon

In azuur eene staande maagd van zilver, het hoofd omkranst met eike- en lauwerbladeren van sinopel de rechterarm eenigszins achterwaarts uitgestrekt en de hand rustende op den kop van eenen achter haar liggenden leeuw van goud, die met zijnen rechter voor klauw een bundel van negentien pijlen van zilver vasthoudt, de linkervoorarm eveneens eenigszins uitgestrekt en de hand steunende op een anker van zilver met eenen tros van hetzelfde. Het schild gedekt met een gouden stedekroon.
