Origin/meaning

The logo is not a true coat of arms and was adopted in August 2008.

The logo shows as a main element a pile of stones, a historical symbol for marking the roads. The base shows a sheet of ice and the waters beneath it. The golden disc is the sun rising in the east. This huge municipality spans the East and West of Greenland. Its size is about the same as France.
