Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on September 21, 1996.
The crosses refer to the local Festival of the Crosses during the first week of May. The crosses are made of oak, which is a canting symbol (carvalho =oak, which became Cerzedelo).
The cogwheel symbolises industry and progress. The mill-wheel symbolises the historical water mills in the area. The wavy base symbolises the Selho and Ave rivers.
