Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on November 10, 2014.

The central figure of the coat of arms is a rider on a horse, holding a golden oak with roots on his shoulder, which personifies numerous legends about the giants who lived on the Chuvash land. According to some legends, the Chuvash descended from the Ulypa tribe, while others state that the Ulyp giants already lived among them. They helped people uproot the forest and plow the land. In the hours of danger, they spoke in its defense. One of the legends tells of a giant who fought with enemies with a tree, while holding it in his hand like a stick. But he was kind and humble.

The symbolism of the coat of arms also publicly reflects the legend that once upon a time this beautiful area was chosen by the hero Murza Akhpyat in search of unoccupied lands and brought his people here.
