Origin/meaning :
The arms were officially granted on October 1, 1999.

In the arms the pales of the arms of Wittgenstein have been added to the arms previously used by the district (see below).

Siegenw.kreis.jpg

The previous arms were officially granted on October 26, 1987.

The old arms are nearly identical to the old arms of the Siegen district, with the exception of the change of colours of the left half from blue and gold to silver and black, the colours of the old Wittgenstein arms. The arms show the lion of Nassau for the old County of Nassau-Siegen, and miner's tools for the former mining in the area.
