SINT AMANDSBERG
Province : Oost-Vlaanderen
Incorporated into : 1975 Gent
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were granted on February 1, 1947.
The lion in the arms is derived from the arms of the St. Bavo Abbey in Gent. The village of Sint-Amandsberg was a possession of the abbey for many centuries (see also Oostakker, Lochristi and Sint Lievens Houtem in Belgium and Wattrelos in France).
The supporter, St. Amand is the patron saint of Sint-Amandsberg.
Literature: Servais, 1955
