Official blazon

  • (1818) Van blaauw beladen met het beeld van St. Jan met het banier over het lam, alles van goud.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1818 and confirmed on May 16, 1839.

The arms show St. John, the local patron saint shown as a young man. As no historical colours were known, the arms were granted in the Dutch national colours. These were continued after the Belgium independence in 1830.
