SKÚTUSTÐARHREPPUR
Origin/meaning
The arms show the rich nature in and around the lake Mývatn, especially the ducks and the trout. The rocks in the middle of the shield are also typical landmarks.
The shape of the shield is like an egg, symbolizing the many species of breeding birds around the lake.
