Origin/meaning

Slavonski Brod (until 1934 known as Brod na Savi) was granted arms in the late 18th or early 19^th century, certainly before 1820, which were basically the same as the ones used today. The arms show a heron holding a fish in the beak and a rotulus (scroll) in its leg. The wavy bar is the Sava river. Older images (see below) do not show the scroll or the fish andhave the elements in a different composition.
