SMÅLAND

I gyllene fält ett rött lejon med blå beväring och hållande i tassarna ett uppåtvänt rött armborst med pilspets av silver samt båge och strängar svarta.
Origin/meaning
The arms were first designed around 1560. These arms showed a red lion holding a special type of crossbow use din the region. The lion was surrounded by roses (or fleur-de-lys). King Johan III removed the flowers in 1569 and used the current arms at his coronation in 1569.
