SOGN OG FJORDANE PROVINCE

Arms of Sogn og Fjordane

Official blazon

På sølv grunn tre blå spissar mot venstre.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on September 23, 1983.

The arms show the geographical situation in the province; three large fjords protruding into the land. The three fjords are the Nordfjord, Sunnfjord and Sognefjord. As nearly all villages and towns are situated on one of these fjords and the name of the province is based on the fjords, the symbolism is obvious.
