SOMBOR (Сомбор)

District : West Bačka
Villages : Svetozar Miletić

Arms of Sombor

Official blazon

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1749 and re-introduced in 1998. From the 1960s only the shield was used, but without figures of soldiers and banner. Alternatively an 8-pointed star was used in alternation with 5-pointed mallet (depending on courage or knowledge of the local Communist Party potentates).
