Wapen: Op 'n gepunte ovaal van oker, 'n hart van rooi deurboor van 'n omgekeerde drieblad, in die skildhoof vergesel van 'n regopstaande troffel van natuurlike kleur, punt na benede en in die skildvoet van 'n oop boek in end-aansig van silwer, gebind van swart; agter die skild 'n regopstaande swart staf, geveer van silwer en swart, 'n skuinsregsgeplaaste skryfpen, punt na bo, en 'n skuinsgeplaaste herderstaf, albei van swart.

Arms: On a pointed cartouche of Ochre, a heart, Gules pierced of a trefoil inverted, between in chief a trowel erect, point downwards, proper and in base an open book in end aspect Argent, leathered Sable; behind the shield a staff in pale Sable, feathered Argent and Sable, a writing pen in bend, nib upwards and a shepherd's crook in bend sinister, both Sable.

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on April 6, 1979 to the Soweto Teachers Training College. Re-granted to the Soweto College of Education after the change of name on October 14, 1983.
