Origin/meaning

The arms were granted in 1482 by Duke Sigismund of Württemberg. The upper part of the arms shows the old arms of the County Hohenberg, in which the town was situated and which had become part of Württemberg in 1381. The lower part is canting (from spoke) for the town.

The arms were confirmed in 1490 by King Maximilian of Germany and have not changed since. In 1828 the town received city rights.
