Origin/meaning

The Coat of Arms is based on the Insignia of the 86th Infantry Brigade Team. The Stag's Head further alludes to the Crest of the Vermont Army National Guard. The Cross recalls the heritage from the 172nd Armor Regiment from which the Battalion originates. The Embattlement symbolises the Engineer Company, the Lightning Bolts the Signal Company and The Battalion's rapid deployment capability. The Pistol symbolises the Military Police Platoon, and the Celeste colour of the Chief the Military Intelligence. The Coat of Arms and Distinctive Unit Insignia, was both approved on 14 December 2006.
