SPITAL AM PYHRN

State : Oberösterreich
District : Kirchdorf an der Krems

Coat of arms (crest) of Spital am Pyhrn
Official blazon
German blazon wanted
English blazon wanted

Origin/meaning

The arms were officially granted on March 6, 1967.

The lion is the lion of the State and DIocese of Bamberg. In 1190 Otto II of Bamberg founded a inn for pilgrims in the area. This inn developed to a large Abbey and the crossed crescent is taken from the arms of the abbey Spital am Pyhrn.

Literature : Baumert, H.E. : Oberösterreichische Gemeindewappen, Linz, 1996.
