Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on April 30, 1930.

In the Middle Ages the whole district was ruled by the Counts of Hallermunt, as vassals for the Bishops of Münster. In the 14th century most of the area was acquired by the Welfen dynasty. The arms show the three roses from the arms of the Counts of Hallermunt.
