Official blazon

På blå bunn en sølv stjerne med seks odder.

Origin/meaning

The arms were granted on March 8, 1957 and again on March 14, 1964.

The original meaning of the star was that 6 main roads crossed in Steinkjer. After the municipal reorganisation the arms were re-granted, but the meaning has slightly changed. Steinkjer now formed the centre of the municipality and the points are directed to the 6 other villages in the municipality : Beitstad, Egge, Kvam, Ogndal, Sparbu and Stod.
