Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms were officially granted on February 27, 2002.
The five stars represent the five villages in the municipality Archsum, Keitum, Morsum, Munkmarsch and Tinnum. The stars are eight-pointed like a compass, symbolising the importance of shipping in the history of the area. The rising red sun symbolises the fact that the municipality is on the Eastern part of the island. The base shows a herring used already in the 17th century by the regional council of Sylt (Landvogtei).
The colours are those of the Nordfriesland region.
