TÓRSHAVN
Official blazon
Origin/meaning
The arms have first been used in the 1920s, and have never been officially granted. The arms show the hand with a hammer, symbolising the Germanic God Thor, after which the town is named.
The waves are canting for the second part of the name, which means harbour.
