The tree symbolizes the specific activity of the area, forestry.

The golden bend represents the road that connects Transylvania and the "Old Kingdom".

The tunnel entrance refers to the Teliu Tunnel, on the Hărman-Întorsura Buzăului railway, being the longest railway tunnel in Romania, located within the Teliu commune, with a length of 4,369.5 m.

The mural crown with a crenellated tower means that the locality has the rank of commune.
